The Currency of Goodwill: Why Generosity is the TRUE Wealth
I first explored this idea years ago, but if anything, it’s even more relevant today: Goodwill and generosity are a new type of currency — or they should be.
We are living in a time when a “me first” mindset can feel like the only way to survive. When resources get scarce—whether it’s money, time, or energy—the instinct is to hold tighter, protect what’s ours, and look out for ourselves.
And yes, taking care of yourself and your family matters. But maybe what needs to change is our definition of “family.”
Because the truth is, we need each other.
- We need to learn not just to live with less, but to share with those who have less.
- We need to recognize that chasing material wealth doesn’t lead to true security.
- We need to remember that our real currency is goodwill—the fulfillment that comes from both giving and receiving.
Scripture has long warned us about the emptiness of material wealth. Money can vanish. Status can disappear. But the impact of kindness, generosity, and love? That’s eternal.
So today, let’s redefine what it means to be rich. Let’s measure our lives not by what we keep, but by what we give. Because in the end, the only wealth that truly matters is the love we share.
