Prayer Focus: Terror in Israel, Tension in Ukraine

Praying for the people of Ukraine, as tensions rise and the path to peace remains uncertain. We pray for Israel, where violence and fear continue to shake communities. We lift up Pope Francis, asking God to restore his health and strengthen his spirit. And in the midst of turmoil, we also pause to recognize acts of compassion—reminders that goodness still flourishes even in difficult times. In all things, we turn to God—for healing, for wisdom, and for the faith to believe that even the heaviest burdens can be lifted.

Praying for Ukraine

The situation in Ukraine remains complex and fluid. Recent diplomatic efforts have encountered obstacles, exemplified by the abrupt cancellation of a scheduled news conference between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. envoy Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg. This development underscores the intricate political dynamics at play.

In parallel, discussions about potential peacekeeping missions have surfaced. The United Kingdom is contemplating deploying Typhoon fighter jets to oversee Ukrainian airspace, contingent upon Russia’s stance. However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has expressed opposition to any NATO troop deployments, highlighting the delicate balance of international relations.

God, we lift up the nation of Ukraine to You. Grant wisdom to its leaders, protection to its people, and a path to peace amidst the turmoil. May Your presence be a source of comfort and strength in these uncertain times.

Prayers for Israel

In Israel, a suspected terror attack near Tel Aviv has raised significant security concerns. Three empty buses exploded in Bat Yam, fortunately resulting in no casualties. Israeli authorities are treating this as a coordinated terrorist act, with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant ordering increased military operations in the West Bank in response.

God, we pray for the safety and security of all residents in Israel. Comfort those living in fear, heal the wounded, and guide leaders toward decisions that foster peace and reconciliation.

Praise Report: Acts of Compassion

Amidst the challenges, we witness inspiring acts of compassion. In Kentucky, the Wildcats basketball team dedicated their recent victory over Vanderbilt to flood victims, loading a truck with donations before the game. Coach Mark Pope emphasized the importance of serving the community during trying times.

Prayer of Thanksgiving:

God, we thank You for the outpouring of support and unity demonstrated by communities in times of crisis. Bless those who give and those who receive, and may these acts of kindness inspire others to serve selflessly.

Pope Francis is improving . . . keep praying . . .

Pope Francis, aged 88, has been hospitalized since February 14, 2025, due to a severe respiratory infection. Initially diagnosed with bronchitis, his condition progressed to double pneumonia, affecting both lungs. Despite the seriousness of his illness, recent updates from the Vatican indicate a slight improvement in his health. The Holy See Press Office reported that the Pope is now without fever, has stable hemodynamic parameters, and has been able to get out of bed to have breakfast in an armchair. He has also resumed some work activities, including receiving the Eucharist and signing official documents.

As we reflect on these events, let us remain steadfast in prayer, seeking God’s guidance, comfort, and peace for all affected.
