When a Man CRIES
These are the lyrics to a song I wrote about 12 years ago during a difficult time in my life. Whether you’re male or female, young or old, I pray somehow reading it blesses and encourages you.
WHEN A MAN CRIES
VERSE 1: Esau cried when he lost his father’s blessing through his brother’s deceit.
David cried when he and Jonathan had to go their separate ways.
Samuel cried when he realized that God had rejected Saul.
Joseph cried when he was reunited with his brothers on that day.
CHORUS 1: Tears of disappointment, tears of sorrow, tears of joy
All tears flow from the same pair of eyes.
Weeping turns to laughter after pain makes a boy
Into a man – now he can stand – when a man cries.
Verse 2: David cried when he lost his son through rebellion in his home.
Nehemiah cried when he heard the holy city’s walls were gone.
Peter cried when he denied the only Lord he had ever known.
Jesus cried in agony for the Father’s will to be done.
CHORUS 2: Tears of regret, tears of remorse, tears of surrender.
All tears flow from the same pair of eyes.
Weeping turns to laughter after pain makes tender
Hearts understand – a divine plan – when a man cries.
BRIDGE: Broken-hearted brothers, fearful fathers, saddened sons.
Males lost in the malaise of uncertain days of the soul.
Wounded warriors, hurting heroes of the faith.
All crying as we’re dying for our lives to be made whole.
Verse 3: Paul cried when he left the believers behind to share the Word.
Jesus cried for Lazarus as He stood outside his tomb.
And I cried for the losses in my own life as they occurred.
And any man who needs to cry can still find he has room.
CHORUS 3″ Tears of purpose, tears of sympathy, tears of change.
All tears flow from the same pair of eyes.
Weeping turns to laughter after pain makes strange
Footprints in the sand – feel God’s hand – when a man cries.
When a man cries.
When a man cries.
