Stand By Me

I forget where I heard it, it was an interview with some humanitarian/rock star — somebody like Bono, or Bob Geldof. Anyway, somebody asked him whether he was going to pursue a career in politics, and he essentially said, no — because if you look back over history, politics and government are the things that fade away, but a culture’s art — it’s music, sculpture, paintings, dance, etc. — these things are enduring, and he’d rather put his energy into something that will last.

It speaks to the power of music and the arts, that a song can bring us together. And since I’m a sucker for stuff that brings folks together, I’m proud to share this little ditty with you, as it was shared with me by a wonderful woman named Etawe. In the same tradition as my earlier post on “Where The Hell Is Matt?” in this project, a sound crew travels the world getting musicians to join in a global “jam session” to the Ben E. King classic, “Stand By Me.”

Bringing the human family together is what A Message From God is all about.

I hereby dare you — no, DOUBLE dare you — to watch this and not be inspired. Enjoy!
