CLOSER Than We Think
Intimacy.
Powerful concept. Knowing. Connection. Union.
From an infant to the aged, every human being longs for the security, safety, and sensuality of intimacy. Babies cry for it. Children work for it. Adults go to great extremes seeking to find it with strangers, create it with family/friends, and express it with a affection/sex, and maintain it with the passage of time and distance.
It never leaves us. The desire to be loved, touched, listened to, understood, accepted, and affirmed. All components of intimacy.
And even though technology seemingly offers us the potential for intimacy, it often can’t deliver what we’re really longing for. Sure, we do things together, but we aren’t guaranteed activity will lead to real, true intimacy.
Fortunately, the intimacy we crave is closer to us than we think. For what we blindly seek for in external relationships is actually to be found within the internal relationship we develop with the Divine within ourselves.
What peace and contentment is ours when we realize that each one of us is filled with more love than we could ever begin to imagine. And this love is just waiting for us to be activiated by the act of sharing it with each other.
So don’t spend another day searching for what was never difficult to find. Love and accept yourself. Be thankful for the person God created you to be.
