Discover the profound teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1967.
What can a Buddhist monk teach us about Christ?
Everything’s Gonna Be Alright
I know you’re hurting. I know you’re struggling with something, some sort of problem, something that doesn’t look like it’s going to ever work out. You keep wondering when it’s going to end, and if it’s going to take you down once and for all. Well, I have good news. Everything’s gonna be alright.
Parable of the Cast Iron Skillet
In the midst of your seasoning, there are many things you will not be able to control. But what you can control are your choices. YOU choose how you move through the process. YOU choose the attitude you have in the midst of it. YOU choose who you are being in relationship to it. Choose wisely and from love. Eventually the heat will die down.
More Than A Dream, More Than A Dreamer
Like so many of us today, I’m remembering the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Being born in 1969, I belong to the very first generation of people for whom he’s never been a living being — he’s always been a larger than life legend, an icon of the rather quaint knowledge that we are all HUMAN […]
If I Can Help Somebody . . .
As much as I love this project and what it’s doing in the world, I actually don’t get a lot of feedback on it. So when I ran across these remars from “Taimour” on a bulletin board at Stresscenter.org . . . well, it meant a whole lot to me. Check it out!
“Message” is a Worldwide Phenomenon
I want to thank each of you reading this for participating in this project, and for sharing it with those you love. But through it all, I’ve been able to quiet the fearful noises and listen to the quiet voice of The Author, which has given me that legendary “blessed assurance.” The more I watch this project touch lives, the more grateful I am to be its messenger.
HANDLED
If it seems like the past seven days in the world have been more troubled than usual, it’s probably because it has been. Just read, look at or listen to the news media. Nuclear weapons testing in Iran. Earthquakes in the Philippines and in Indonesia. A tsumami in the American Samoan Islands. A steady increase in reported cases of both […]
“. . . And Give You Peace . . .”
Lately, I’ve been ruminating on the challenges that lie ahead in my divorce, and it deeply saddens me. I do find comfort and solace in knowing that God is with me every step of the way, but I still mourn the loss of my marriage, and of the family life I worked so hard for. Today was one of those days when I needed some encouragement, when I needed to know that despite my absence from her daily life, that she’s thinking of me in some way.
A Balanced Life?
Ran across this post from Christine Sine, in which she asks the valid question: Did Jesus lead a balanced life? I recommend reading the whole post, but here’s an excerpt: I identified three basic rhythms. First, his spiritual life, which was based on the Jewish rhythm of prayer several times a day interwove through all that he did focusing his […]
Faith + Knowledge = A Deeper Understanding
My reasoning is simple, and based in my training as a newspaper reporter: If it’s The Truth, there’ll be evidence of it everywhere. And sure enough, many of the principles that Jesus taught can be found scattered around the world — anywhere that humans have reached out to The Infinite.
