A Message For Today: Get Out of The Boat!

Have you ever found yourself daring to dream, stepping out in faith, only to be halted by a whisper of doubt?

Do you remember that time Jesus told Peter to get out of the boat?

“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” — Matthew 14:29-30

Peter took that first bold step. He trusted Jesus’ call and in that moment, transcended the natural laws that bind us to our limitations. Yet, human doubt — an all too familiar companion in our own journeys —soon crept in. Reminded of his earthly constraints, Peter began to sink.

How often do we find ourselves in a similar position? We may be poised on the brink of something miraculous—a new opportunity, a challenging calling, or an unexpected blessing—but then we pause. We think, “This is impossible,” or “I’m not meant to do this.” Just like Peter, we allow doubt to tether us back to safety, back to the boat.

But here is the encouragement for all who waver on the precipice of the miraculous: Jesus extended his hand to Peter amidst the waves and asked, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” Not as a reprimand, but as a gentle reminder that faith, not doubt, is the pathway to witnessing the extraordinary unfold in our lives. He invites us to look beyond the impossibility and trust in his unwavering presence.

Today, step out in faith, encouraged by Peter’s story. Let your faith be larger than your fears. When doubt whispers that you cannot walk on water, remember that you are not alone. Jesus stands ready, his hand outstretched, urging you to trust in the power beyond your understanding.

Call to Action: Take a moment of reflection today. Are there areas in your life where doubt is holding you back? Pray for the courage to let faith guide your steps, and watch as miracles begin to unfold.
