Prayer Focus: Kentucky Floods, Pope Francis and a modern Jonah

Praying for the people of Kentucky, facing devastating floods and loss. We pray for Pope Francis, that God restores his health and strength. We also pause to celebrate a modern Jonah—a kayaker miraculously spared from the mouth of a whale! And finally, we pray for peace and justice in a world where violence still steals precious lives. In all things, we turn to God—for healing, for hope, and for the reminder that every life is sacred.

Praying for Kentucky (and Ways to Help)

Our hearts are with the people of Kentucky as they face devastating flooding. Lives lost, homes destroyed, communities shaken. But even in tragedy, God is near.

God, bring comfort to grieving hearts, strength to those rebuilding, and hope to every soul facing loss. May help arrive swiftly, and may Your love shine through every act of kindness.

Prayers for Pope Francis

No matter your faith tradition, Pope Francis has been a voice of love, humility, and peace in the world. Now, he needs our prayers as he faces health challenges. Will you pause for a moment and pray for him?

God, we pray for healing over Pope Francis. Give wisdom to his doctors, strength to his body, and peace to his spirit. May he continue to be a light of Your grace in this world.

“I am the Lord who heals you.” — Exodus 15:26

Praying for Dignity, Compassion, and Justice

News out of South Africa has been heartbreaking. Imam Muhsin Hendricks, a well-known activist, was shot and killed in broad daylight. He as known for advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, which is downright dangerous in many parts of the world. No matter where one stands on faith or culture, the truth is this: his life mattered. And he didn’t have to die.

God, we pray for his family as they grieve. We pray for peace and justice, not just in this case, but in all places where violence takes away human dignity. Let Your mercy and wisdom guide us toward a world where life is honored and respected.

Praise Report: A Modern Jonah!

If you ever doubted that miracles still happen, check this out: A man kayaking off the coast of Chile was nearly swallowed by a whale—and survived!

Can you imagine? One second, you’re paddling… the next, you’re inside a whale’s mouth! But just like Jonah, God saw fit to bring him out unharmed.

This story reminds us that life is unpredictable, but God is always in control. Let’s take a moment to pray a prayer of thanksgiving:

God, thank You for Your protection. Thank You for the reminders—big and small—that You are always watching over us. We praise You for every miracle, seen and unseen.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for God is good; God’s love endures forever.” — Psalm 107:1
