Be careful how you say “I Am” — it’s a prayer

Have you ever considered the transformational power behind the simple words, “I am”?

In the Bible, when Moses asks God what to say when he’s asked who gave him the 10 Commandments, God declares, “Tell them I AM sent you.” (Exodus 3:14, NIV). This profound scripture reminds us that God is the ultimate source of all existence.

But have you ever paused to consider how these words resonate in our own lives?

It’s a common struggle that many of us face: the reckless use of the words “I am.” Often, without thinking, we attach negativity to them. “I am not worthy.” “I am not good enough.” These aren’t just expressions of a momentary feeling; they’re a form of prayer.

And when these words are spoken or thought, it’s as if we’re asking God to affirm our doubts and fears. It’s crucial to recognize that our words have power. Just as God’s “I am” holds divine authority, so too do our words carry weight.

Instead of allowing negative affirmations to shape our reality, let us consciously choose to speak words that uplift and inspire. The Bible encourages us with scriptures such as, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NIV).

When we declare “I am connected to God,” “I am enough,” or “I am unafraid,” we invite God’s blessings into our lives. These powerful affirmations reflect our faith and trust in God’s promise, ensuring that we are living in alignment with His divine truth.

Be mindful of what follows your “I am.” Make a personal commitment to only affirm what you would glorify God with. Reflect on the words you choose and offer prayers of gratitude and strength to support these affirmations. Consider how your life might transform as you align your self-view with God’s view of you.

Remember, every “I am” statement you make has the power to shape your reality. Choose wisely, and let your words reflect the divine, affirming presence of God in your life.
